Support/Caring Ministry

Members of the Camp United Methodist Church family express their caring and loving support in many ways, including:

Prayer: We have members who faithfully pray for our church, our nation and for concerns expressed by the church family. A prayer room is available. Prayer request cards may be found in the pew racks and in the prayer room for prayer by our intercessory prayers. These include a

men’s group that meets on Tuesday nights women’s groups that meet on Wednesday mornings and Thursday evenings, and a prayer chain whose members are called into immediate action. Our youth also have special times for prayer on Sunday evenings and at Wednesday morning “Rise & Shine” breakfasts.

We also answer phones for the Upper Room Prayer Ministry the third Thursday of each month from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. You may call the prayer chain by contacting the  church office, 754-4840, or after hours, Pastor Rich Vaughan, 754-6355, or Director of Lay Ministries Susan Eggert, 754-4840.

Stephen Ministry: Stephen Ministry is our newest care ministry. We have two ministers in place and a group in training. Stephen Ministry equips and mobilizes lay people to provide high-quality, ongoing Christian care to people who are experiencing a crisis or a difficult time.

Ministry for the Bereaved: A means by which we express love and concern and are supportive when a death occurs in someone’s immediate family. Groups of  women in the church take turns providing a meal or other caring gesture for the bereaved family, usually the day of the service.

Flowers: Members of the congregation provide flowers for the altar and narthex each Sunday. If the donor chooses, Sunbeam Care uses the flowers to brighten the lives of shut-ins and the ill.

Sunbeam Care: Camp UMC’s way of reaching out to the sick, homebound, institutionalized or anyone else unable to participate regularly in the life of the church.

Nursery: A vital support ministry for our young parents, paid staff and volunteers provide care

for infants through toddlers during all worship services, Sunday School and some special events.

For more information on any ministry listed above please contact Director of Lay Ministries Susan Eggert at the church office for more information.
