Among other things, seeing the members of his or her church working together, thrills a minister's heart.  What a blessing it is to be a part of a church where so many people are involved.  The work of City Road United Methodist Church is accomplished by disciples of Jesus Christ who are committed to God and to an institution called the church.  The doors are always open - come in and experience open hearts and open minds.

FYI: Do you know what the two flames on the United Methodist Church emblem represent? I didn’t know until I read an article in the current issue of "Interpreter," and it says that the design was conceived shortly after the 1968 union of the Methodist Church and the Evangelical United Brethren Church. The dual flames represent two denominations coming together through the power of the Holy Spirit, standing along side the cross of Jesus Christ. The article goes on to say that many people connect the flame with the Pentecost while for others it is a reminder of John Wesley’s 1738 experience at Aldersgate Street. It also tells us that only United Methodist agencies and churches may use the insignia, and it cannot be altered in any way. The General Council on Finance and Administration must approve any commercial use of the emblem, such as on church T-shirts for sale. I thought you would like to know.

MISSIONS TEAM: We all have a mission in life if we are striving for eternal life. God requires us to love him with all our heart and love your neighbor as yourself. It may be easy to love God with all your heart, but it is so hard to love your neighbor who is not the same color or is of another social status or lives another part of town. But if you are striving to be faithful to God’s call, you must be concerned for the homeless person, the starving child, or the oppressed person of another ethnic group. You might say, "How can I do this?" Begin first by praying to God and then listen to where He is calling you. Who knows what form the call might be: write a letter to a missionary; collect food; donate clothing; hug someone; or just call people to listen to their needs.  April's meeting is scheduled for April 28th at 7:30 in Edwards Hall.
