Christian Education Sunday on August 26th

Christian Education Sunday will be observed on August 26th. A covered dish brunch will
begin at 9:45 a.m. to honor our 2006-07 Sunday School teachers. At 10:15 a.m., our children and youth will be promoted to their new Sunday School classes. During the 11:00 Worship Service the 2007-08 Sunday School teachers will be installed and Bibles will be presented to our 3rd Graders and 7th Graders. Henry Price will deliver the Christian Education Sunday sermon entitled, “Wonderful Word, Frightful Word”.
Our 3rd Graders will receive the “A Faith to Grow On” International Children’s Bible, which is translated on the 3rd grade reading level. The Children’s Bible contains Bible Book Introductions, FaithBuilder Notes, Faith Energizers, Words to Grow On, Bible Hero Articles and Prayer Articles. These interactive features makes this a Bible children will call their own.
Our 7th Graders will receive the New Century Version eXtreme Teen Bible. The eXtreme Teen Bible is about discovering who God is, what He’s doing in the world, and what He promises for your future. There are character profiles of young people in this Bible, 100 Bible promises you can always count on and over 250 Bible thought-starters to help you discover God’s plan for your life.

Planning for a
New Year!

As we bring Summer to a close, so does another year of Youth Ministry. This past year we have sought to be Servants With a Task! We have made great strides individually and as a group. Youth ‘07, Carolina Cross Connection, Pilgrimage and our UMYF programs have helped us grow in our faith. But like the Apostle Paul, we haven’t attained perfection (and we won’t) yet we will continue to strive towards the mark of the high calling of Christ Jesus.
Youth Ministry is ministry to youth, with youth and by youth! Our
annual Youth Council Planning is scheduled for Saturday, August 25 from 9:00 AM—3 PM. Reflecting on this past year is our UMYF program for August 12. Dreaming for this coming year is our UMYF program for August 19.
Begin asking, “Where is God leading our youth ministry as we approach the 2007-2008 school year?” “What do I want to see us do this coming year?” These questions are for youth, parents and all church members. I look forward to hearing from you.
