As a spiritually mature registered nurse educated in the specialty of parish nursing, the parish nurse
· Is a health educator – does programs on health issues · Serves as a personal health counselor – i.e. questions about diseases, health problems · Acts as a referral agent – to doctors, dentists, etc. · Coordinates volunteers – transportation ministry, lay visitation, food ministry · Develops support groups · Assists others to integrate faith and health · Serves as a health advocate · Provides medical equipment which is on hand at the church to be loaned as needed · Provides sermon tapes to shut-ins
Our on-going support groups:
Alzheimer’s Support Group: This group meets every third Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the church.
Grandparents Raising Grandchildren meets every Wednesday at 9AM.
Diabetes Support Group meets every third Monday at 1:30 p.m.
Grief & Loss Class: This class is led by Jean Roney, Bereavement Counselor, Lower Cape Fear Hospice. Contact church for schedule
